UNRWA warns of a sharp decline in vital supplies in the Gaza Strip.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned in a statement issued on Friday, April 11, of a sharp decline in vital supplies in the Gaza Strip, cautioning against the deterioration of humanitarian conditions to dangerous levels.
Julie Tomah, UNRWA's Communications Director, pointed out in a post on social media that the ongoing Israeli blockade has led to a significant increase in the prices of essential goods in recent weeks.
Tomah emphasized that "children and infants are facing high rates of malnutrition, as the sector edges closer to the brink of famine."
The Communications Director called for "an immediate cessation of hostilities, the removal of imposed restrictions, and ensuring unimpeded access to humanitarian and commercial aid."
On the other hand, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that the crossings leading to Gaza have remained closed to aid since March 2, marking the longest closure since October 2023.
Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross expressed concerns about the difficulty of aid delivery, stating in a press release that they have not received any official confirmation of the crossings being opened for relief shipments.
The International Committee of the Red Cross reiterated the importance of providing safe passages for humanitarian aid to prevent the crisis from worsening for civilians.
