The Acting Head of the European Union Mission in Syria, Michael UNMAKHAT, emphasized today, Saturday, the necessity of respecting the sovereignty and unity of Syria.

In a statement on the "X" platform, UNMAKHAT stressed the importance of respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity by Israel, calling for "an immediate cessation of all acts of violence, the protection of civilians, and urgent measures to prevent incitement and sectarian rhetoric".

UNMAKHAT also emphasized the "need to hold accountable those who violate international humanitarian law".

Clashes occurred between Bedouin tribes and armed groups in the province of Al-Suwayda in recent days, resulting in numerous casualties.

Earlier today, the Syrian presidency announced a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire, calling on all parties to adhere to it.

President Ahmad Al-Shar'a also affirmed in a televised speech regarding the events in Al-Suwayda today following the ceasefire announcement, the Syrian state's commitment to protecting all minorities and sects in the country, and its determination to hold all violators accountable regardless of their affiliation.
