As part of ongoing efforts to enhance food security in Syria, the unloading operations of a new ship carrying 7,700 tons of imported wheat began at Tartus Port today, Wednesday.
According to "SANA", Mazen Aloush, the Director of Relations at the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, explained that the unloading process will take about 72 hours, thus increasing the total amount of imported wheat that has reached Syrian ports since the beginning of the year to 143,700 tons.
Aloush confirmed that the unloading operations are proceeding smoothly thanks to the equipped docks and specialized technical staff, ensuring speed of completion and quality of work, noting the port's readiness to receive more wheat ships in the coming period, which contributes to stabilizing the market and securing the needs of mills and relevant centers.
A few days ago, another ship arrived at the port carrying 6,600 tons of wheat.
