University youth in northern Syria compete programmatically… and Al-Shahbaa University takes the lead

The competition brought together 90 male and female students from 9 universities in the region, forming 25 teams that competed to develop software solutions for real-world problems, using programming languages such as C++, Java, and Python, within an environment that simulates the technical challenges in the job market.
The team from Al-Shahbaa University came in first place, while the teams from the Union University secured the second and third places. The winning teams were awarded trophies and medals during a closing ceremony held at the Old Aleppo Lighthouse, which included a visual presentation documenting the stages of teamwork that the students underwent during intensive training workshops.
Engineer Ahmad Jalilati, the head of the organizing committee, explained that the competition aims to enhance analytical thinking and teamwork, and serves as a preparation for participation in the national and international qualifiers that will be held later at Homs University.
For his part, Firas Dib, Director of Partnerships and Funding at the Syrian Development Organization, pointed out the importance of this initiative in connecting university students with the job market, especially in light of the rapid digital transformation, emphasizing that the competition represents a vital platform for transitioning from theoretical education to practical application.
Dr. Muhammad Abdul Hai, President of the Private North University, also noted that such events enhance interaction between universities and open new horizons for students to exchange experiences and develop entrepreneurial thinking.
University programming competitions are among the most prominent technical events globally, where teams' abilities to solve complex algorithmic problems within a specified time are tested, reflecting the level of creativity and technical skills of the participants.
