United Nations: More than 779,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their country since the fall of the ousted regime

In its periodic report, the commission stated that the return of internally displaced persons is still ongoing, with about 1,694,418 million displaced persons having returned to their homes since the same date.
It added that the number of Syrian refugees returning from Jordan has exceeded 133,000 refugees since last December.
SANA quoted the spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Syria, Celine Schmidt, as saying: "The commission is committed to continuing to support returnees who have made the decision to return despite the challenges, especially the material ones," noting that many returnees find their homes and the infrastructure for basic services destroyed.
Schmidt pointed to the need for more support that goes beyond humanitarian assistance, emphasizing that the commission continues to coordinate with relevant development entities to mobilize the necessary developmental support.
