United Nations: 798 Killed in Attempts to Receive Food Aid in Gaza

The United Nations Human Rights Office revealed today, Friday, that at least 798 people have died while trying to obtain food aid in the Gaza Strip since the end of last May.
A spokesperson for the High Commissioner for Human Rights explained that 615 of the victims fell in the vicinity of sites belonging to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation during the distribution of aid since May 27, while 183 others were killed on relief convoy routes.
Separately, the Civil Defense in Gaza announced the killing of at least 6 people in Israeli airstrikes targeting areas in the northern Gaza Strip, including 5 displaced persons inside Halima Al-Saadia School in the Jabalia Al-Nazla area. Another airstrike in Gaza City resulted in one fatality and injuries to several civilians.
In the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, Al-Awda Hospital reported receiving injuries from Israeli forces' gunfire near a humanitarian aid distribution point, without any immediate comment from the Israeli army.
Gaza is witnessing continuous military escalation as the war enters its twenty-second month, starting after an attack by Hamas on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which _according to Israeli statistics_ resulted in the death of 1200 people and the capture of 251 others.
In response, Israel launched a military campaign that _according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza_ resulted in the deaths of more than 57,000 Palestinians and the destruction of large areas of the Strip.
The current escalation comes despite mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire, with two previous halts to fighting: the first in November 2023, and the second in January 2025, while efforts are currently underway to reach a new agreement in the coming days.
