UN-Syrian Meeting in Damascus: Confirmation of Sovereignty and Improvement of Humanitarian Situation

The Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan al-Shibani, received today, Saturday, in the capital Damascus, the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, and his accompanying delegation, as part of discussions on the latest developments in the Syrian file and regional developments.

During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the necessity of creating suitable conditions for the return of refugees, alongside focusing on improving the humanitarian situation in the country.

This meeting comes at a time when the region is witnessing rapid political and humanitarian transformations, reflecting the importance of Syrian-UN dialogue in supporting stability and enhancing sustainable solutions.
