The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and Refugees in the Middle East and North Africa, Majid Al-Rikabi, has confirmed that the situation in Syria is catastrophic and requires urgent intervention from all countries and broad international cooperation to contribute to extinguishing fires and saving what can be saved.
In an official statement on Saturday, Al-Rikabi added: "Our teams on the ground are working alongside a number of local and international organizations, closely monitoring the significant efforts being made by the Syrian Civil Defense in the field."
Al-Rikabi noted that the Syrian state is doing its utmost with its capabilities and resources to control the fires despite the significant challenges.
