Ukraine rejected Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement of a 3-day ceasefire on Monday, offering instead a counterproposal for an immediate and long-term ceasefire. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sebiha stated on "Ax" website, "If Russia truly wants peace, it must cease fire immediately." Sebiha added that Ukraine is ready to support a permanent, stable, and comprehensive ceasefire, but any initial truce must last for at least 30 days and not only cover Moscow's military parade period. Putin had earlier announced a unilateral ceasefire for 3 days starting from May 8 to 10. The Kremlin statement said that Russia expects Ukraine to comply, or else it will respond to the ceasefire. On May 9, Moscow will host the Victory Parade in World War II in Red Square, with Putin expecting over 20 heads of state and government to attend. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump's team expressed dissatisfaction with Moscow's offer. White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated that the US President made it clear that he wants a permanent ceasefire.
