Delivery crimes back in the spotlight... Uber driver assaults a girl in Cairo:
Violence against women in taxis has once again sparked controversy, after a young woman in Cairo was assaulted by an "Uber" driver in a shocking incident that triggered widespread anger.
The incident occurred when the girl boarded a taxi with her mother, only to notice that the driver suddenly changed the route. When she confronted him, a verbal altercation ensued, quickly escalating into a violent assault, as the driver hit her, causing wounds and bruises on her face.
After filing an official report, the authorities managed to apprehend the assailant.
This incident is not the first of its kind, coming a month after a harassment incident involving a Chinese tourist in Sharm El Sheikh, as well as another Egyptian girl being harassed in Mohandessin, Giza.
These incidents bring to mind the case of "Habiba Al-Shemaa," who was killed last year after a similar assault, shedding light once again on the escalating violence against women in taxis and ride-sharing services.
Have these incidents become mere numbers in the crime records, or are there radical solutions on the horizon?
