The Emirates News Agency reported today, Wednesday, that the security forces in the country have thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons and military equipment to the Sudanese army illegally. According to the Attorney General Hamad Saif Al-Shamsi, the security forces in the country managed to foil an attempt to pass a quantity of military equipment to the Sudanese armed forces after apprehending members of a cell involved in mediation, brokerage, and illegal trafficking of military equipment without obtaining the necessary permits from the relevant authorities. The investigations revealed the involvement of cell members with Sudanese army leaders, including the former director of the Sudanese intelligence agency, Salah Gosh. The Sudanese army has not yet issued any comments, despite repeated accusations from the UAE of arming the quasi-military Rapid Support Forces, which have been engaged in a civil war against it for the past two years. The UAE denies these accusations.
