Turkish Ambassador Bakir Oglo: Erdogan's visit to Syria may be soon.

The Turkish Ambassador to Syria, Bahran Kor Oglu, announced President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's intention to visit Damascus in a first-of-its-kind meeting since the political changes in Syria at the end of last year.
These statements were made during the Ambassador's participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025, hosted by Turkey under the slogan "Adhering to Diplomacy in a Divided World."
Kor Oglu clarified in a statement reported by Arab media to the Russian agency "RIA Novosti" that the presidential visit "may take place in the near future," pointing to close cooperation between Ankara and Moscow regarding the Syrian file, including regular meetings between representatives of both countries.
The Antalya Forum saw the participation of Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani, along with several heads of states, governments, foreign ministers, and representatives of international organizations.
During the event, President Al-Sharaa met with President Erdogan and several participating leaders to enhance bilateral relations following a previous visit by Al-Sharaa to Ankara in February.
Furthermore, the Turkish Ambassador affirmed that Turkey was the first to open an embassy in Damascus after the new Syrian leadership took office, stating in an interview with the Russian channel "RT": "We continue to support this process of rebuilding Syria and its institutions," considering the relationship between the two neighbors to be based on mutual trust, as reflected in the invitation extended by the Syrian President to participate in the Antalya Forum.
On another note, Kor Oglu discussed the ongoing Turkish-Israeli talks in Azerbaijan regarding avoiding clashes in Syria, expressing Ankara's rejection of Israeli attacks on Syrian territories. He described Israel as a "belligerent state in the region," emphasizing that Turkey is "committed to supporting Syria even in the realm of self-defense."
