Turkey Participates with "Two Helicopters and 11 Firefighting Vehicles" to Help Syria Extinguish Latakia Fires

Syria's Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed Al-Saleh, announced an agreement between Syria and Turkey to participate in extinguishing the fires raging in the forests of the countryside of Latakia province, following a field meeting held between the two sides in the border area of "Yayladagi" adjacent to Mount Turkmen.

Al-Saleh explained in a press statement that "the intervention was scheduled last night, but sudden fires in Turkey delayed the arrival of the participating teams until this morning (Saturday)", noting that the joint operations include the participation of "two firefighting helicopters", in addition to "11 vehicles (8 firefighting trucks and 3 water supply attachments)".

He emphasized that this coordination comes in cooperation between the Syrian ministries of emergency and foreign affairs with the Turkish side, "to ensure readiness, exchange of field information, and enhance rapid response".

On the other hand, firefighting, emergency, and civil defense teams from various authorities continue their efforts to control the fires that have spread over wide areas in northern rural Latakia, amid difficult weather conditions that hinder extinguishing operations and increase the risk of fire spreading towards villages and neighboring areas.
