Tunisian Lawyer: Plainclothes Security Officers Arrested Former Presidential Candidate Mourad Messaoudi

Reuters reported the lawyer Samir Ben Omar saying: "We do not know his whereabouts so far."
A Tunisian court sentenced Mourad Messaoudi in absentia last year to eight months in prison for the charge of "fabricating and falsifying endorsements for candidacy in the 2024 presidential elections" before deciding to keep Messaoudi free until a ruling on the appeal against the sentence.
According to Ben Omar, Messaoudi's family and lawyer do not know the charges against him or his place of detention, noting that Messaoudi is still a judge enjoying immunity after the administrative court suspended a presidential decision to dismiss him along with a group of judges earlier.
