US President Donald Trump revealed yesterday, Wednesday, a conversation he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin, discussing crises in Ukraine and Iran, where Putin offered to mediate in dialogue with Tehran.
Trump told reporters at the White House: "I spoke with him yesterday, and he already offered to mediate with Iran, but I asked him to start mediating between Russia and Ukraine first, and to deal with the Iranian issue later".
Trump added that Iran is completely incapable and does not possess effective air defense, explaining that Tehran contacted Washington to start negotiations, and proposed sending a delegation to the White House, describing that proposal as "brave".
At the same time, Trump said he has not made a final decision on the possibility of launching a military strike against Iran, adding: "I may do it and I may not, next week will be decisive and we may not complete the week", indicating the United States' patience is running out.
Despite Trump's statements, Iran's mission to the United Nations denied, in a post on the "X" platform, the accuracy of what the US President said, describing his words as "lies", confirming that Tehran does not accept negotiations under coercion, and that it will respond to any threat with a counter-threat.
This comes amid escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, now in its sixth day, where the two sides exchange airstrikes and rockets.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei announced the start of a "battle" against Israel, emphasizing not engaging in any bargaining with it.
The two sides also exchanged maps of cities showing areas vulnerable to bombing, where the Iranian Revolutionary Guard called on Tel Aviv residents to evacuate, while the Israeli army ordered the evacuation of Iranian residents in "Area 18" in Tehran.
