Trump Reaffirms America's Recognition of Moroccan Sovereignty over the Sahara

In a message to Moroccan King Mohammed VI on the occasion of Throne Day, Trump stated that "the United States places great importance on the strong and lasting partnership it has with Morocco".
He emphasized the "need to move forward with shared priorities for peace and security in the region, particularly by relying on the Abraham Accords, combating terrorism, and expanding trade cooperation for the benefit of both Americans and Moroccans".
In December 2020, the White House announced that the United States "now recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over all the territory of the Sahara".
At that time, a statement from the White House mentioned that "the United States reaffirms, as previous administrations have stated, its support for Morocco's proposal for autonomy as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to the conflict over the territory of the Sahara".
