Trump questions the possibility of a direct meeting between Putin and Zelensky and confirms ongoing trilateral consultations

US President Donald Trump said he is unsure about the possibility of a direct meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, but emphasized that trilateral communications between Moscow, Kyiv, and Washington are still ongoing.

Trump explained in an interview with the Daily Caller that "a trilateral summit will be held, but I don’t know if there will be a bilateral meeting," noting that "the parties involved may not be ready for that yet."

The US President expressed his hope for a resolution to the Ukrainian crisis, comparing the situation to a dispute between two children who start fighting and then stop later after insistence on calming them down.

Trump confirmed that the war in Ukraine has dragged on, resulting in a large number of casualties, indicating that some conflicts require confrontations before the path to de-escalation can be opened.
