Trump Imposes New Customs Duties on Canadian Imports, Hinting at Important Statement on Russia

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday, July 10, the imposition of a 35% customs duty on imports coming from Canada, starting from August 1.
The announcement came through a post by Trump on the "Truth Social" platform, where he said in his message to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney: "Instead of cooperating with the United States, Canada responded by imposing its own customs duties".
Earlier in the day, Trump told NBC News that his administration would inform the European Union and Canada of the new customs duties on their imports "today or tomorrow", indicating that "all remaining countries that have not been sent letters about the customs duties imposed on them will pay higher tariffs, whether 20% or 15%".
On the other hand, Trump expressed disappointment with Russia regarding efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, saying: "I feel disappointed with Russia, but we will see what happens in the next two weeks".
He added that he may issue "an important statement on Russia on Monday", without further details.
Trump also revealed that the United States is "sending weapons to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)", confirming that "the alliance is fully paying for these weapons".
He explained that "NATO will deliver these weapons (to Ukraine)", indicating the alliance's support for Ukrainian military efforts.
