President Trump announced today, Monday, through a post on his "Truth Social" account that his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan has invited him to visit Turkey and he will also visit Washington. Trump stated: "I had a very good and productive phone call with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, where we discussed various topics including the war between Russia and Ukraine, as well as Syria, Gaza, and others." He added: "President Erdogan invited me to visit Turkey in the near future, and he will also come to Washington. Throughout my four years as president, my relationship with President Erdogan has been excellent." Trump continued: "We have worked closely on several issues, including his release of Pastor Andrew Brunson, who was imprisoned, back to the United States upon my request. Anyway, I look forward to working with President Erdogan to end this absurd but deadly war between Russia and Ukraine now." Erdogan, on his part, expressed his support for Trump's approach to ending wars and his appreciation for the negotiations with Iran in a phone call with the American President, according to the Turkish Presidency.
