US President Donald Trump said today, Friday, that he immediately halted efforts to ease sanctions on Iran, after Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said his country had achieved a victory over the United States.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social, "Over the past few days, I was working on the possibility of lifting sanctions, and other matters, which would have given Iran a much better chance for full, rapid, and comprehensive recovery."
He added: "I received a statement full of anger, hatred, and disgust, so I immediately abandoned all efforts to ease sanctions, among other things."
