In a new development in Gaza, US President Donald Trump announced the possibility of reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza this week, following Hamas' "positive" response to the proposed truce by the mediators.
Trump told reporters aboard the US presidential plane: "It's good that Hamas responded positively, and there may be an agreement within days. We need to do something about Gaza, especially since we send a lot of money and humanitarian aid."
Earlier, Hamas confirmed in an official statement that it had delivered its response to the mediators, indicating the completion of internal consultations with Palestinian factions and forces, expressing the movement's seriousness in immediately entering into negotiations on the agreement's implementation.
The statement added that the response was positive, despite including some minor modifications.
Palestinian sources said the modifications relate to the mechanism for delivering humanitarian aid, with Hamas requesting the withdrawal of the Israeli army from specific areas in the sector.
The movement also expressed reservations about the presence of the "Humanitarian Gaza Foundation" within the distribution mechanism, emphasizing its desire for UN organizations to play a major role in delivering aid.
On the other hand, Israeli media reported that Israel has received a response from Hamas currently under consideration, with the proposed deal including the release of 10 living Israeli prisoners in exchange for the release of 1000 Palestinian prisoners.
The escalation comes amid widespread destruction caused by Israeli airstrikes, with hundreds of Palestinian families still displaced, searching for shelter amidst worsening humanitarian crises.
