Trump expects a "very quick" decision on Iran after "positive" talks in Oman.

President Donald Trump announced today, Monday, April 14, his expectation of making a "very rapid" decision regarding Iran, following what he described as "positive" and "constructive" negotiations between the two countries in Oman last Saturday.
Trump confirmed that both parties agreed to hold another round of talks this week, without revealing further details.
Trump made these statements while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, stating that he held a meeting with his advisors to discuss the Iranian file, as reported by "Al Arabiya / Al Hadath" channel.
Trump added: "We will make a decision on Iran very quickly," indicating an acceleration in decisions related to the Iranian nuclear program, which Trump had previously threatened to respond to militarily if negotiations failed.
These developments come hours after a report by American media outlets, notably "Axios," citing informed sources that Washington and Tehran will hold a second round of nuclear talks next Saturday in the Italian capital, Rome.
The talks in Oman marked the first direct meeting between Iran and the Trump-led administration, including his previous term (2017-2021).
Officials from both sides described the atmosphere as "fruitful, calm, and positive," while Trump expressed optimism about the progress of the negotiations, telling reporters on Sunday: "The talks went well... the situation regarding Iran is very good."
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, in statements to CBS, affirmed that the U.S. seeks a diplomatic solution to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, but cautioned that the U.S. military is prepared to carry out "deep and forceful" strikes in Iran if diplomatic efforts fail. He stated: "We hope not to resort to military options, but we are capable of going far if necessary."
It is worth noting that Iran and the United States issued a joint statement at the end of the first round of talks, indicating that they were "positive and constructive," with a commitment to continue the dialogue next week.
