Trump Cracks Down on Pro-Palestinian Student Activists at Columbia University .. Members Threatened with Sanctions

While Columbia University in Manhattan negotiates with the administration of US President Donald Trump to regain $400 million in federal funding that the government had frozen due to the university's handling of student protests against the war in Gaza, the university's administration announced disciplinary actions against students who participated in a pro-Palestine demonstration inside the university's main library before the end-of-semester exams in May, as well as in a sit-in organized during last year's graduation weekend.
An activist student group stated that about 80 students were informed of facing sanctions ranging from suspension for a period of one to three years, or permanent expulsion from the university. The university, in an official statement, added that the sanctions issued by a university judicial committee also included periods of disciplinary probation, in addition to revoking academic credits in some cases.
