Trump Attends Club World Cup Final in New Jersey

The "MetLife" stadium in New Jersey witnessed a remarkable presence of the American President Donald Trump on Sunday, July 13, during the final match of the Club World Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, in a move interpreted as an attempt to enhance America's international presence through football.
This presence comes as part of the preparations for the 2026 World Cup final, scheduled to be held in the same stadium next year, where Trump sees this tournament, along with the World Cup for national teams and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, as significant milestones in what he calls "America's golden age" during his second term.
Trump's participation highlights his strong relationship with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who has visited the White House several times. Infantino presented Trump with the Club World Cup during a visit last March, which the latter kept in the Oval Office.
Despite the political distance of Trump's interest in football, this interest also has a personal aspect. Infantino revealed at a press conference on Saturday at the new FIFA headquarters inside Trump Tower in New York: "I was asked if the president likes the game, and I think he does. In his first term, there was a football goal in the White House garden. He explained to me that his son loves the game, and he has come to love it too. When you love what your children love, you must love the game."
It is worth mentioning that Trump's son, Barron (19 years old), is a football enthusiast, and the president himself played the game during his time at the New York Military Academy.
