US President Donald Trump criticized Elon Musk's establishment of a new political party called "America Party," describing the move as "ridiculous" and leading to chaos.
During a conversation with journalists in New Jersey, Trump said that the American political system has always been based on two parties, and adding a third party only brings confusion, adding: "We are achieving great success with the Republican Party, and it can have fun as it pleases, but what Musk is doing is illogical."
The dispute between the two men came after years of closeness, where Musk was one of Trump's prominent supporters, contributing over $270 million to his campaign, chaired the "Government Efficiency Committee" to reduce federal spending, and was a frequent visitor to the Oval Office.
However, the relationship soured after Musk withdrew from the committee last May, and after Trump signed the new budget law known as the "Great and Beautiful Donald Trump Law," which Musk strongly opposed.
Musk had previously promised to establish a new party if the law was passed, and he fulfilled his promise immediately upon its signing.
Trump responded with a lengthy post on "Truth Social," accusing Musk of "going out of control" and becoming a "mobile disaster," considering that the new party only serves chaos and threatens the stability of the American system, which is already suffering from turmoil, as he described.
Trump also revealed that Musk had previously asked him to appoint a close friend as the director of NASA, but it later turned out that the candidate was a "genuine Democrat" and did not contribute in any way to supporting the Republicans, which made Trump consider the request inappropriate, especially since Musk owns SpaceX, which is linked to contracts with the agency.
In his speech, Trump emphasized that the Republican Party is working efficiently and recently succeeded in passing the largest law in the country's history, pointing out that the law repealed what he described as the "ridiculous electric car mandate" that would have forced Americans to own these vehicles in the future.
Meanwhile, American media warned that the new party could draw votes away from the Republicans in the upcoming elections, further complicating the American political scene.
