President Donald Trump announced that the United States will soon impose a 25% tariff on European products, accusing the European Union of harming the American economy.
During his first cabinet meeting, Trump explained that the European Union was created to damage the United States, stating his decision to impose tariffs at the same rate on Mexican and Canadian products starting from April.
Trump also emphasized that the tariffs will include various products, including cars, pointing out that the European Union has taken advantage of the United States in the past.
He also threatened to impose additional tariffs on trading partners to address what he called "unfair and unbalanced trade."
Since taking office in January, Trump has announced similar tariffs on Canada and Mexico due to issues related to illegal immigration and drug trafficking, such as "fentanyl." Although the tariffs were previously suspended, Trump confirmed his intention to activate them starting from April 2, with a significant portion being implemented.
This step is part of Trump's efforts to adjust the trade balance, which he considers unbalanced with several countries, a move that could lead to international economic and political tensions.
