Tragedy on the banks of the "Yellow River".. Collapse of an under-construction bridge claims the lives of 12 workers in China

The province of Chenghai in northwestern China witnessed a tragic incident early Friday that resulted in the death of 12 workers and the disappearance of four others, after a steel cable snapped during the construction of a bridge over the "Yellow River".
The authorities stated that the incident occurred at 3:10 AM during the tensioning of a massive cable, leading to the collapse of a curved steel girder measuring 108 meters, while 16 workers were on site.
Immediately, more than 800 rescue personnel were dispatched, supported by 91 vehicles, 27 boats, a helicopter, and five robots, in addition to opening emergency medical channels in six local hospitals to receive the injured and provide care for the affected families.
The Ministry of Emergency Management confirmed that it sent a special task force to oversee the search and rescue operations, emphasizing the need to uncover the causes of the incident and prevent its recurrence.
The main span of the bridge was scheduled to be completed by the end of this month, but the disaster has suspended the project amid great shock in China.
