The White House stated that Azerbaijan and Armenia will sign a preliminary peace agreement mediated by the United States during a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump today, Friday. This agreement aims to enhance economic relations between the two countries after decades of conflict.
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly told reporters that Trump will sign separate agreements with both Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding energy, technology, economic cooperation, border security, infrastructure, and trade.
The White House added that Trump will meet separately with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the White House, and a trilateral meeting will be held later on Friday.
The agreement includes exclusive development rights for the United States in a strategic transit corridor through the South Caucasus, referred to as the "Trump Road to Peace and International Prosperity."
