The US State Department warned its citizens today, Friday, against traveling to Syria, stating: "We advise our citizens not to travel to Syria due to the significant risks, including armed conflict." It added: "There may be attacks without warning in Syria targeting places such as shopping centers and hotels," and continued: "No part of Syria should be considered safe from violence." Earlier today, a delegation from the US Congress arrived in Damascus to hold meetings with the Syrian leadership and civil society. According to the schedule, the delegation visited the neighborhood of Jobar in northeast Damascus, which was destroyed by the ousted regime forces, and will later visit the Sednaya prison. This is the second visit of a US delegation to Syria after the fall of the former regime on December 8th last year.
