In a step reflecting the seriousness of the University of Latakia in enhancing its academic status, the university president, Dr. Mustafa Ibrahim, emphasized the urgent need to elevate the university's ranking and improve its performance in quality and accreditation. He called for activating all available resources at the department and faculty levels to immediately engage in enhancing academic standards, including educational plans, teaching methods, and scientific research. This was stated during his chairing of the university council meeting, where the focus was on the current state of quality and academic ranking, and ways to enhance them. Dr. Ibrahim also highlighted the importance of developing the university's scientific journal to become a recognized peer-reviewed publication, by improving the quality of published research and updating the editorial board. He pointed out that this step would play a crucial role in improving the university's ranking at both local and international levels. On the other hand, the head of the university's business management committee, Dr. Mohammed Al-Sheikh, stressed that developing the educational process requires collective effort and intensive workshops to ensure compliance with all required quality standards to achieve tangible and sustainable results. In the same context, the director of the university's Quality Assurance Center, Dr. Aqeel Hajouz, presented a detailed overview of the results of the center's self-assessment evaluation, including proposals for development and a roadmap to enhance academic and administrative performance at the university in the upcoming period.
