UAE Signs Deal to Purchase Nuclear Fuel

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and the French company Framatome have signed a cooperation agreement to supply nuclear fuel to the UAE and provide engineering services for the Barakah nuclear power plants.
The agreement aims to support the continuous operational excellence of the plants, enabling them to continue their role in producing clean electricity around the clock and contributing to achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
Under the agreement, Framatome will provide complete nuclear fuel packages for use in the Barakah plants.
Mohamed Al Hammadi, the CEO of ENEC, stated on this occasion that the agreement with Framatome supports the company's strategy to enhance the security and reliability of the nuclear fuel supply chain, where diversity is a key element to ensure the continued provision of safe, clean, and reliable electricity by the Barakah nuclear power plants, enhancing sustainable growth for the UAE economy.
The Barakah plant in the UAE consists of four APR-1400 model reactors.
