UAE Denies Involvement in Sudan War

A spokesperson for the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs "strongly" denied what he described as allegations of supplying any party in the conflict in Sudan with weapons, calling these "claims" baseless and lacking any proven evidence, as reported by Bloomberg.
The Emirati official affirmed that the UAE's efforts to enhance its influence in African countries, especially through promises to invest billions of dollars in the energy, services, technology, and real estate sectors, are driven by shared values and a vision for sustainable development and comprehensive growth.
Analysts believe that African governments still urgently need foreign partners to develop their economies, and the UAE, at a relatively low cost for a wealthy oil state, can quickly build its influence on the continent through investment deals and humanitarian aid.
It is worth noting that Sudan had announced at the beginning of last May cutting diplomatic ties with the UAE, accusing it of waging "aggression" against the country by supporting the Rapid Support Forces in its war against the Sudanese army. The UAE has denied, on multiple occasions, providing any support to the Rapid Support Forces and emphasized its non-interference in Sudan's internal affairs.
Bloomberg reported that the Emirati official did not comment in response to claims by Western diplomats that Abu Dhabi has been building a support network for the Rapid Support Forces in neighboring countries to Sudan, such as Chad and the Central African Republic.
