The Turkish National Security Council affirmed Ankara's strong support for the Syrian government's efforts to ensure stability throughout the country. This came in a statement issued by the council on Thursday following its meeting at the Turkish presidential complex chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The statement clarified that the meeting discussed recent developments in the Syrian arena. It welcomed the decisions to lift the economic sanctions that burdened the Syrian people. The statement emphasized the importance of eliminating any attempts that undermine Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, unity, and political unity. It called for taking a stand against any activity that could lead Syria into a state of instability. It also stressed the need for international parties to fulfill their responsibilities in addressing the risks arising from Israeli policies. It mentioned that Israel, through its continued genocide and occupation in Gaza, systematic attacks, and expansionist ambitions against Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen, obstructs peace efforts in the Middle East.
