Assistant Minister of Interior Affairs, Shadi Al-Youssef, clarified that "all laws previously in effect at the Ministry of Interior are currently under review by a specialized team for enhancement in line with public interest, including the traffic law." The minister's assistant pointed out that "there may not be significant changes, but research is being conducted to identify the best regulations and laws that facilitate public movement." Regarding the number of violations detected and their payment methods, Al-Youssef explained that "several violations have been enforced according to the existing traffic law, payable in Syrian pounds and not in US dollars as rumored." According to Al-Youssef, "there is a study to issue a new violations fee schedule, but it is difficult to determine the announcement date due to its connection to public systems." He also mentioned that the number "115" has been designated for direct communication in emergency cases, when any driver faces a traffic issue, and direct communication with people is now being conducted through intensified traffic police presence on the streets. Recent information circulating about traffic fines in Syria being collected in US dollars has raised questions about the laws enforced by the Ministry of Interior. The chaotic traffic situation in all Syrian streets is highlighted due to changes in vehicle and public transport routes, as well as illegal parking.
