The Syrian Interior Ministry Clarifies the Circumstances of the Explosion in the Al-Maysar Neighborhood in Aleppo

The Syrian Interior Ministry announced that the explosion that occurred in the Al-Maysar neighborhood of Aleppo, northern Syria, was the result of a deliberate act by a drug addict with a criminal record, and not due to a suicide belt as previously rumored.
The ministry's spokesperson, Nour Al-Din Al-Baba, stated in a post on his official Facebook page on Monday: "It has become clear after the investigation and according to the latest data that the perpetrator is a person with a criminal record and a drug addict," explaining that the suspect detonated himself using a bomb he was carrying following disputes with his family and ex-wife.
Media outlets reported on Sunday evening that an explosion occurred near the Al-Wahda bakery in the neighborhood after a man detonated himself with a suicide belt due to a family dispute. Our correspondent also reported from a security source that the perpetrator is a Syrian from the neighborhood.
On the other hand, a source in the Internal Security Directorate in Aleppo told the official news agency (SANA) that the explosion resulted from a suicide belt worn by an unknown person, which led to his death without other civilian casualties, noting that investigations are ongoing to determine his identity.
