The humanitarian situation in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, has taken an extremely dangerous turn, as reports indicate that from the heart of the "Abu Shouk" camp in the city, a complete collapse of life is revealed, with essential goods becoming impossible wishes for the citizens.
The North Darfur Emergency Coordination Room Council stated in a press release that the levels of food insecurity "inside the city of El Fasher" have reached an unprecedented level, "where our field estimates indicate an almost complete absence of essential food items by up to 88%."
It added that the crisis has surpassed "the warning stage to a stage of real humanitarian tragedy."
It pointed out that "children and women, who are the most vulnerable, are suffering from hunger terribly, and scenes of emaciation and acute malnutrition have become common in the camps and host communities."
It further stated, "We sadly confirm that we are witnessing deaths due to hunger and malnutrition."
