In a strange incident, an American man filed a lawsuit against the famous energy drink company "Red Bull", claiming that the company's well-known marketing slogan "Red Bull gives you wings" is misleading and false.
The man asserted in his lawsuit that the drink did not provide him with any increase in concentration or physical or mental performance as the advertisements suggest, nor did it give him "wings" in either the literal or figurative sense.
He considered this a deception of consumers and a violation of false advertising laws.
Interestingly, the case did not reach a court ruling, as "Red Bull" preferred to settle the dispute out of court, ending with a financial settlement of 13 million US dollars, part of which was allocated as direct cash compensation to the complainants ($10 for each person who applied), with the option to choose a $15 gift voucher instead of cash.
Applications were opened for any American consumer who purchased a "Red Bull" drink between 2002 and 2014 to benefit from the settlement.
The incident sparked widespread controversy and raised questions about the limits of advertising and whether promotional phrases should be held accountable for their figurative meanings!
