The President of Iran visits the UAE to enhance bilateral cooperation.

The head of the Syrian Transitional Government, Ahmed Al-Shar'a, conducted an official visit to the United Arab Emirates today, Sunday, April 13th, for talks with Emirati officials to enhance the relations between the two countries.
The Syrian News Agency (SANA) quoted an official source stating that the head of the Transitional Government is accompanied by the Foreign Minister, Asaad Al-Shaaban, in this visit to discuss various common issues and develop cooperation in different fields.
This visit comes within the diplomatic efforts of the new Syrian government to strengthen relations with Arab countries, especially in the reconstruction phase after years of war that lasted for over a decade.
The Syrian Foreign Minister had previously visited the UAE on January 6th, where he met his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, in the capital Abu Dhabi. The UAE News Agency (WAM) reported that both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral relations and exchanging views on regional and international developments.
Al-Shaaban also participated in the "World Government Summit" held in Dubai on February 11th, where he met on the sidelines with the World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa, Osman Dioum, to discuss ways to support development in Syria.
It is worth mentioning that this visit is the second by the head of the Transitional Government to a Gulf country after his visit to Saudi Arabia, which was his first foreign stop since taking office in January 2025.
This step comes amidst escalating Israeli movements on Syrian territories, as well as Syrian efforts to lift the international sanctions imposed on them.
The Syrian Foreign Minister had previously met on January 24th with the UAE Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, during their participation in the World Economic Forum (Davos 2025).
