The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces have announced the reinforcement of their presence on the border between Syria and Iraq, in a move aimed at enhancing border security with Syria. According to a statement by the Popular Mobilization Forces on Thursday, April 3, armored combat units are strengthening border security with Syria. The statement further explained that the forces have been deployed along the border strip with Syria as part of efforts to enhance security and secure the borders from any potential threats. These reinforcements are intended to support the stationed units within the "responsibility zone," providing them with additional resources to enhance their defensive capabilities and combat readiness. The forces continue to carry out their assigned tasks to protect the borders and secure vital areas, in coordination with other security entities to ensure stability in the region. It is worth noting that a phone call took place on April 1 between the Syrian President, Ahmed Al-Shar'a, and the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, focusing on developing bilateral relations between Iraq and Syria and opening a new chapter.
