In a scientific event that is the first of its kind, the Syrian Association for Pharmaceutical Sciences in Britain (SAPS-UK) launched its first scientific day under the title "Pharmaceutical Renaissance: Science and Partnership," gathering a select group of Syrian researchers and academics from inside and outside the country at the Golden Mezze Hotel in Damascus, with official sponsorship from the Ministries of Higher Education and Health, and in partnership with UltraMedica Pharmaceutical Industries.

The event was not just an academic meeting, but a strategic platform to redefine the features of pharmaceutical education and link scientific research to industry, amidst calls to update curricula and expand cooperation between universities and factories, in line with developments in the local and international market.

Clear Government Support: Scientific Research at the Heart of the Renaissance

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, emphasized that Syria is heading towards a pharmaceutical renaissance based on "renewable science and effective partnership," confirming the ministry's commitment to developing graduate programs and enhancing cooperation with the industrial sector.

Return of Competencies: Pharmacy as a Pillar of Health Security

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Dr. Musab Al-Ali, welcomed the return of Syrian pharmacists from abroad, calling for a change in the societal perception of the pharmacy profession, considering it an essential part of the health and food security system in modern Syria.

Strategic Partnerships: From Education to Export

The president of the association, Dr. Hani Baghdadi, spoke about the association's vision to link local expertise with foreign ones and to enhance innovation in the pharmaceutical industry, while the general manager of UltraMedica, Firas Adam, described the event as "a turning point towards export with global specifications."

For his part, Dr. Talal Al-Ajlani, the treasurer of the Pharmacists' Syndicate, considered the scientific day an opportunity to exchange experiences and develop union work, in light of a new phase of scientific and industrial openness.

Background of the Association

(SAPS-UK) represents a scientific bridge between Syrian competencies inside and outside the country, and seeks to develop the pharmaceutical industry and pharmaceutical education according to the highest global standards, through a network of researchers specialized in manufacturing, regulation, and educational curricula.
