The U.S. Department of Defense, the Pentagon, said in a statement that Defense Secretary Mark Esper will travel to Brussels on Thursday to participate in a meeting of defense ministers of NATO member countries before heading to Normandy, France on Friday to attend D-Day celebrations. The ministry added today, Tuesday, that Esper will deliver a message stating that President Donald Trump is intensifying his call for NATO allies to commit to spending five percent of their gross domestic product on defense.
