Pentagon allocates $130 million to support SDF and FSA in fighting ISIS

The US Department of Defense has allocated $130 million from the 2026 budget to support the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Free Syrian Army in order to continue combating the Islamic State.
The Department emphasized in a detailed statement its commitment to the "permanent defeat" of the organization by supporting "partnered and reliable forces", stressing the need to maintain continuous pressure on it in the areas where it is still active.
The US Department of Defense sees the resurgence of ISIS as a direct threat to American interests, as well as to the people of Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and the international community as a whole.
It is worth noting that ISIS has regained activity in Syria, claiming the bombing of Mar Elias Church in Damascus, and carrying out attacks against Syrian government forces. The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of several cells affiliated with the organization that were planning attacks against civilian and military gatherings.
