According to British media reports, Evangelos Marinakis resigned today, Wednesday, from his duties as the owner of Nottingham Forest, the English club on the verge of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League in football. Forest currently occupies sixth place in the Premier League, level on points with Chelsea in fifth place, with a postponed match remaining. If Forest finishes the season within the top five, they will qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1980. Marinakis owns Olympiacos, the leader of the Greek Super League, preparing to compete in the Champions League next season. UEFA rules prohibit clubs owned by the same entity from participating in the same continental competition. Documents submitted to company records revealed that Marinakis will not have "significant control" over Forest, with his stake in the club being placed in a blind trust.
