During his discussion about the Syrian official television, the Director of Relations Office at the Ministry of Information, Ali Al-Rifai, stated that the delay in the launch of official television channels in Syria after the liberation of the country from the Assad regime is due to significant technical and political challenges, primarily the sanctions imposed on the General Authority for Radio and Television, which prevent broadcasting via satellites like "NileSat," despite continuous efforts to overcome these obstacles. He added that media institutions suffer from equipment deterioration, reliance on an outdated operating system, and a decline in human resources due to years of corruption and favoritism. Al-Rifai continued, "A new television channel requires at least a year of preparations even in normal circumstances, so how in a media environment destroyed by the previous regime? Nevertheless, a team of young people has been working for four months to relaunch the 'Syrian News Channel' with a new identity." He also confirmed that the channel is now ready for official launch, after setting up modern studios, training professional presenters, and establishing a new editorial policy that reflects the aspirations of Syrians. He mentioned that the "Syrian News Channel" has been broadcasting daily since the beginning of March, and is prepared for official broadcasting as soon as the frequency issue on NileSat is resolved and the technical ban is lifted.
