As part of its efforts to promote sustainable development and empower the most vulnerable groups, the Syrian Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor participates in the 62nd session of the Damascus International Fair, through a special pavilion bearing the slogan "Human First", which includes a wide range of programs and initiatives that reflect the ministry's commitment to achieving social justice and economic integration.

Empowerment and Community Support Programs

The ministry's pavilion includes multiple sections focusing on:
- Empowering youth and women
- Child protection
- Supporting people with disabilities
- Vocational training
- Raising awareness of workers' rights
- Social protection
Additionally, the pavilion features daily musical performances inspired by Syrian heritage, reflecting the cultural diversity of the local community.

From Assistance to Partnership: A Practical Model for Development

The pavilion coordinator, Itab Shaaban, explained that the participation aims to highlight real success stories of individuals who have transformed from recipients of aid to active partners in development, noting that the pavilion serves as a practical window into the reality of productive families, female breadwinners, people with disabilities, and young entrepreneurs.

A Direct Market for Products of Productive Families

The ministry has allocated space within the pavilion to showcase products from rural families and female breadwinners directly, providing them with a unique opportunity to connect with thousands of visitors and promote their productive and creative capabilities, in a step aimed at enhancing economic and social integration.

Strategic Partnerships and Sustainable Funding

Shaaban confirmed that the fair serves as a strategic platform for communication with the private sector and supporting institutions, noting that there is a plan to sign cooperation agreements with chambers of commerce and industry, banks, and major companies, with the aim of providing sustainable funding and opening permanent marketing channels for the products of the beneficiary groups.

Active Presence of Non-Governmental Organizations

Ahmed Al-Jali, the coordinator of non-governmental organizations in the ministry, clarified that the pavilion includes a dedicated space for 22 organizations working in the fields of community development and economic empowerment, where they showcase their projects and engage in direct communication with the public and supporting entities.

Fair Dates

The activities of the 62nd session of the Damascus International Fair will kick off on August 27 and continue until September 5, in the exhibition city in the countryside of Damascus, with wide participation from government and private entities as well as international and local organizations.
