Yesterday, Thursday, the Syrian Minister of Justice, Dr. Mazhar Al-Wais, issued a decision to form a specialized legal committee tasked with studying the legal issues related to judicially extended lease contracts, whether for properties owned by individuals or the state, whether leased to individuals or public entities.

According to the decision, the committee will be responsible for monitoring and studying all legislative documents and applicable instructions related to judicially extended lease contracts, in order to have a deeper understanding of the issues facing this type of contracts and to propose practical and legislative solutions to address these issues.

The committee will focus on studying the nature of lease contracts and the legal provisions regulating the relationship between the landlord and the tenant, aiming to achieve balance and justice between the parties of the lease relationship, taking into account the economic and social changes in the country.

This decision comes as part of the Ministry of Justice's efforts to reform the legislative environment to align with the current reality and address the gaps affecting the legal and social stability of leased properties.
