The Ministry of Culture Denies Stopping Theater Performances for the Melas Brothers and Affirms Its Support for Creative Freedom

The Ministry of Culture denied the rumors circulating on social media regarding the cessation of theater performances for the Melas brothers due to a political post attributed to them.
In a statement from the ministry reported by the "SANA" agency: "The ministry has not issued any decision or directive to stop the theater performances related to the Melas brothers," emphasizing that the performances are "ongoing without interruption."
The statement clarified that what happened was the result of "a misunderstanding between one of the ministry's employees and the working team," noting that this matter "does not reflect the ministry's policy or orientations." The ministry also stressed its "rejection of any infringement on freedom of expression," confirming that it "does not support or stop any artistic project based on political opinions."
In a related context, the Ministry of Culture affirmed its efforts within its plans and programs to "entrench the culture of creative freedom and expression," and to support artistic projects that "contribute to enriching the Syrian cultural scene," considering that "the arts in all its forms are a space for dialogue and building awareness."
