The Syrian Minister of Health, Dr. Maysar Al-Ali, met on Thursday with a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation, led by the agency's director in Syria, Tatia Lohmann, to discuss ways to develop the health sector and support efforts to stabilize and rehabilitate the health sector in Syria.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance the common health situation, identify the needs of the health sector, and contribute to developing more sustainable healthcare services systems and mechanisms.

Minister Al-Ali highlighted the serious challenges faced by the health sector in Syria due to the destruction of infrastructure and resource shortages, noting that the ministry is working according to an emergency plan to rebuild health facilities, enhance human capacities, and expand partnerships with foreign hospitals and universities.

On her part, Lohmann affirmed support for the ministry's efforts in rehabilitating the health sector by focusing on healthcare services, improving and training staff, supporting emergency and referral systems, with a focus on mental and social support.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Hussein Al-Khatib, the Director of Ambulance and Emergency Services, Dr. Najib Al-Naasan, and several directors and officials.
