Al-Shara issues a decree to form the National Transitional Justice Authority Committee

Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara issued today, Thursday, Decree No. 149 for the year 2025, which establishes the National Transitional Justice Authority Committee, according to the Syrian official news agency (SANA).
The decree was based on the provisions of the constitutional declaration and Decree No. 20 for the establishment of the National Transitional Justice Authority for the year 2025. Article One assigned Abdul Basit Abdul Latif as the head of the committee, and included a group of members among them Zahra Najib Al-Barazi, Ahmad Saifo Al-Saifo, Jumana Riad Saif, Hassan Muhammad Jibran, and Yasmin Ali Mashaan, along with several other members.
Article Two indicated that the members of the authority will commence their duties under the supervision of their president as soon as they are notified of the decree, and tasks will be distributed according to the internal regulations of the authority, while Article Three confirmed the publication of the decree and its enforcement from the date of issuance.
The National Transitional Justice Authority is tasked with key responsibilities including pursuing those responsible for violations during the years of war, compensating victims, acknowledging their suffering, and promoting the principles of non-recurrence and national reconciliation in coordination with relevant parties.
Abdul Basit Abdul Latif is considered one of the most prominent legal figures tasked with restoring what was left by years of conflict in Syria, and he is the president assigned to manage the affairs of the new committee, which comes in a political scene seeking to enhance justice and national reconciliation.
