The Kurdistan Region of Iraq Presidency welcomed today, Thursday, the call by Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan of the Kurdistan Workers' Party to lay down arms and dissolve itself, urging Kurdish fighters to "implement it" and affirming its determination to support the peace process.
The President of the region, Nechirvan Barzani, said in a post on the "X" platform, "We warmly welcome Mr. Ocalan's message and his call to disarm and dissolve the Kurdistan Workers' Party, and we ask the party to commit to and implement this message," confirming the region's readiness "to fully support the peace process."
This comes after Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan called on the Kurdistan Workers' Party, which he heads, to dissolve itself and lay down its arms.
